History and purpose of a music video.
Music videos are mainly used as a marketing device to boost sales of the recordings. They became popular in the 1980's. There were "filmed inserts" before the 1980's but it was MTV that made the music video popular by basing the format around the medium. Music videos have become more popular and have tapped their way into television which is one of the most dominant mediums. One of "Youtube's" main uses is by people watching music videos at their own convenience, which shows the huge popularity of them. I want my music video to be upbeat with positive imagery so it promotes the music as people relate that positive feeling with the music.
